May 2022 – Kelly Sears has been engaged by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to support the development of the Pan-Canadian Genomics Strategy which was announced in Budget 21. Kelly Sears is conducting a research study on the commercialization and adoption of genomics-based technologies and innovations in Canada. The objective of the study is to examine the current suite of federal government programming support programs and to identify the challenges and opportunities related to the commercialization and adoption of genomics-related technologies. The research study is involving interviews with federal scientists working in the genomics field and with industry associations in several sectors, including health, energy, environment, agriculture and agri-food, forestry and mining.
