Kelly Sears has been engaged by the Public Health Agency of Canada to conduct an assessment of Canadian Pandemic Influenza Preparedness (CPIP), a planning guidance document that outlines how federal, provincial and territorial governments will work together to ensure a coordinated approach to pandemic preparedness and response. The CPIP consists of a main body that provides overarching principles, concepts and shared objectives together with a series of technical annexes on specific elements of pandemic planning. The CPIP was due for an update in 2019 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, an assessment of the CPIP is required to provide insights and recommendations regarding a future version of the document. This major study will involve extensive consultation with public health professionals across Canada. The final report will be prepared in March 2024.
